Growth Mindset

This year we have been learning about how we can grow our brain through our learning. All classes have been trying to think positively and not to give up...we have noticed that this has really helped us to make more progress in our learning. We are very proud of ourselves!

DEVELOPING A  GROWTH MINDSET

INSTEAD OF…

TRY THINKING…

I’m not good at this

What am I missing?

I give up

I’ll use another strategy

It’s good enough

Is this really my best work?

I can’t make this any better

  I can always improve

This is too hard

This may take some time

I made a mistake

Mistakes help me learn

I just can’t do this

I am going to train my brain

I’ll never be that smart

I will learn how to do this

Plan A didn’t work

There’s always plan B

My friend can do it

I will learn from them

What do the children say about growth mindset?

Piper-year 6

I used to dislike reading but since learning about growth mindset, it has made me see that if I am going to get better, I need to carry on reading and it will get easier.

Fletcher-year 5

When I moved to this class I didn’t use growth mindset, but now I know if I use it and I keep trying and practising I will get there.”

Ieuan- year 4

It is good to not get things right, as this is how you learn, if you keep trying you will get there.

Lucy-year 3

Growth Mindset pushes me to not give up.”

Harry-year2

If you make a mistake it helps to grow your brain. So it is good to fail.”

Ayden-year 1

When you don’t know how to do something, you try again and keep going until you get it.”

 Max-Reception

We need to use our growth mindset to get better.”
