Devon Primary SCITT was formed in 2001. Our original group of partnership schools across the Devon and Plymouth areas has now expanded to over 50 high quality schools. The Headteachers of these schools form the Governing body of DPSCITT and provide its direction and oversight.
From its inception, DPSCITT has recognised the need for the best quality teachers to provide the best quality learning experience for our children. Outstanding OFSTED reports in 2003,2006, 2009 and 2016 have supported the drive for creativity, innovation and rigour to be central to our shared vision. We were awarded 'SCITT of the year 2019' by NASBTT awards.
In 2012 we became a National Teaching School. This now means we are able to offer fantastic career development beyond your PGCE year. For instance, we have 65 Newly Qualified Teachers on our NQT programme and support them in their first critical year of teaching. We have also had over 100 teachers in their first 5 years of teaching on our Developing Future Leaders and NPQ Middle Leaders Programmes.
Mission Statement
In order to raise standards in our schools, we need to attract the most able and committed people into teaching.
Through a high quality school-based programme, which is constantly reviewed and reflected upon, we seek to develop well-prepared, motivated and inspired trainees to send out into the profession with a positive and reflective attitude towards educating children.
If you believe that you aspire to becoming an excellent teacher then we would like to hear from you.
