Exmoor have had a great week this week!

In English, the children all completed their explanation texts about the weird and wonderful ways household machines work! I have really enjoyed reading them!

In maths both year 4 and 5 have been working on developing their place value knowledge. Year 4 also enjoyed an exciting adventure to Watersmeet where we spotted erosion and deposition in action. 

 

Have a wonderful and relaxing half term and I can't wait to see you all in two weeks!

This week in English, the children have been designing their own machines with their own weird and wonderful ideas about how they work. I am really looking forward to reading their explanation texts about their machines.

In maths, year 4 have completed their learning on fractions and we are now securing our place value knowledge and year 5 have been working on counting in 1000 and 1,000,000.

In science, we have been identifying different types of rocks by testing their qualities and finally in art we have been sketching landscapes that we could see from the school field and identifying different natural textures.

This week the children have been working really hard! In math’s, year 4 have been using fractions in different contexts to problem solve and year 5 have been developing their understanding of mixed number and improper fractions.

In English, we have been working on developing our understanding of parenthesis and using it to add detail to our sentences.

In topic, we have been learning about the different layers of rocks and the different features of a river.

This week we have enjoyed our coronation celebrations and have created some artwork to celebrate our new king.

In maths, we have been focusing on understand equivalent fractions and adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.

In English, we have been learning how to develop our sentence structure using parenthesis.

Finally, in geography we have learnt about the different part of the river.

This week the children Exmoor class have been learning about fractions and how to identify equivalent fractions.

In English, we have started a new sequence inspired by the book ‘Until I met Dudley’ focusing on instruction and explanation writing.

Lastly, in topic we have started our new topic of rivers and in science we have started to use our knowledge of states of matter to investigate the water cycle.

This week Exmoor class have settled back into school really well! In English, we have been creating poems about the journey of the river Taw.

In maths we have started a new topic on place value focusing on fractions.

In computing, year 5 have been learning about how to create 3D models using a software program.

Finally, year 4 have had an incredible adventure at rock and rapid and I hope they all had an amazing time and faced their fears.
