Codden 20/21

This week we have had great fun watching, observing and looking after caterpillars.  The children thought about what they already knew about caterpillars and what they would like to find out next.  They strengthened their finger muscles by punching holes in leaves and threading their own caterpillars using pipe cleaners and beads.  We read the story the Very Hungry Caterpillar and acted it out using props and small world toys in sequence.  Everyone has enjoyed spending lots of time in the garden, singing and performing on our stage and making dens to create shelter from the sunshine.  In maths we have learnt how to recognise teen numbers as numerals and in lots of different visual representations such as numicon, tens frames, objects and bead strings and have learnt how to put them in order.

The children in Codden class had great fun decorating hard boiled eggs.  They had so many good ideas, Easter Bunnies, chicks and decorated eggs. We had great fun rolling them down the slope and seeing who’s egg was the fastest!

In PE we had fun doing an Easter Egg and Spoon obstacle course, the children carefully balanced their egg as they travelled over, under and through the PE equipment in the garden.

The children in Codden class have had such had a great return to school.  They loved meeting up with their friends, playing together and chatting.  They had lots of fun searching for signs of Spring in the school environment.  They noticed spring flowers, buds, blossom and were very interested in the minibeasts hiding under the logs in the wildlife area.

The children created their own daffodils and learnt how to attach two pieces of paper together by snipping and feathering.

They learnt how to plant seeds and thought carefully what they need to grow.  They all made a very special gift for their Mums for Mothering Sunday.
