Codden 20/21

The children had great fun playing with fake ‘snow’ they have made up many of their own stories about saving animals stuck in the snow and being rescued by Father Christmas and his sleigh!  They have been very busy learning and remembering Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Makaton.  The children have done some beautiful drawings of angels and concentrated very hard to colour them in using pastels.  We had great fun on the Santa Run, Christmas lunch and Christmas Party!

The children enjoyed retelling the story of the Owl Babies using story spoons, they included the beginning, middle and end and language from the story. They made their own dens outside using sticks and blankets and pretended to be hibernating animals.  The role play Pet Rescue Centre has been very busy with lots of animals treated and cared for during the week.

The children had great fun exploring fireworks.  They worked together to build a bonfire, rescued hedgehogs and did a firework dance using streamers.  They worked hard to design and make their own fireworks and sparklers using junk modelling materials, they learnt how to securely join two materials together using masking tape.

This week we have enjoyed reading the story ‘Leaf Man’, the children had great fun creating their own leaf people and animals using Autumn leaves and seeds, can you guess what they are?

Codden class have been exploring, playing and learning.

In music we have learnt to find the beat to the music, we have explored the orchard and tasted the apples we picked. We even used the apples to paint with, rolling and pressing to develop our co-ordination. We have been enjoying our outside areas while the weather has been nice.

We have had great fun settling into our new class and meeting lots of new friends.
